Great food and service! Try the onion burger, plate of fries, and a lemon shake! Watch for the toy train up above the seating too.
Take a backwards time travel to 1955 at The Lemon Drop! Not much has changed since it was built. They are famous for their onion burger and with good reason. Great food at unbelievable price. My lunch was less than $10.00 and boy was it great! 1955 style handmade burgers. Go for onion rings too. AND, they have phosphates, the chocolate was divine. The service is hometown friendly and fast. I love the 1950's ambiance. You will too, especially if you're a boomer! I've been in twice in the last 9 days!
We decided to stop in Lemon Drop today, exceeded our expectations. Small, cute little diner with the best Halloween decor! Delicious, well priced food & sides. Came out very fast & everything was very fresh!
Yes! I love everything about this tiny, authentic, local historical diner. The diner is adorable, with many original vintage furnishings. The outside is bright yellow with a fantastic vintage sign. Inside, there are about a dozen counter stools and five or six booths. A toy train runs around the ceiling. The diner was decked out for Halloween with even a broom that magically "walks" around while you eat. We took seats at the counter. The menu specialty is the Onion Burger with 2 thin beef patties surrounding grilled onions. I ordered the Onion Burger with fries. The burger was delicious, not huge, but perfect lunch size. The generous portion of shoe string potatoes is easily sharable. My husband had the Breaded Tenderloin with lettuce, tomato, onions and mayo. He described his sandwich as fresh and delicious. Again, the sandwiches aren't huge, but perfect lunch size. The prices are incredibly reasonable. You can eat lunch for under $10. The staff is welcoming, friendly and attentive. Water glasses were kept full. Food comes out quickly. I was sorry to miss out on the fresh made fountain drinks. Next time! The parking lot is small, but adequate. Seating is a premium during peak times. The do a robust carry-out business. I'm glad I don't live closer, or I'd be here everyday.
The Food is always Fresh and Hot even when you take out and drive several mile home. The Service is Excellent and you don't have to ask for refills as they are on it. The Ladies are Nice and Welcoming, You may have a wait, but well worth it!
Classic diner food served with small-town charm. The retro ambiance really invites the customers to travel back in time to the 50's. The Lemon Drop is famous for its onion burgers served on toast, Hoosier-style pork tenderloins, and shoestring French fries. They are also the one place in town where you can get Vanilla Coke with real vanilla syrup. Don't forget to grab a lemon drop on the way out!
I've read reviews about the Lemon Drop, and while the wife and I were in Anderson IN today, we decided to stop by for a late lunch. It was 3pm when we arrived, and we were surprised that the parking lot was full of cars this late in the afternoon. A table opened up as we walked in. I ordered a double onion cheeseburger with all the fixings and a lemon shake. The wife ordered fries and a single onion burger with cheese and pickles. I liked my burger. It was full of flavor, juicy, and quite tasty. Unique. Five stars. The Lemon shake was a bit tart and too sweet. Just okay. Two or maybe three stars. The fries came to the table hot and heaping. Enough for the wife and I to share with some leftover. Five stars. My wife thought her burger was too thin. She is not a fan of the onion burger. Excellent service and an efficient, friendly staff. I loved the ambiance and old drive in look and feel. The electric train the circles the inside of the restaurant was especially "cool". The place was clean and a good value. The wife won't come back, but I will. I really liked the unique and fresh flavor of the onion cheeseburger.
I'm from California and this place was a total treat! I got the double onion burger with lettuce, cheese and mayo. I also got their onion rings and dipped it in their cheese sauce (no brainer, you gotta do this)! Service was awesome, we were all well taken care of. Some of our friends from Indy took us here and it was such a great spot to visit. I'm glad I got the chance to try it!
My new favorite greasy spoon! I've been here twice and loved it both times. It's small, so be patient if you're dining in, there may be a wait. Both times I was here we sat on stools at the counter. Their chili is great. Nothing fancy, just meat and beans, but it has a great flavor. I've had the onion burger and tried my kiddo's regular burger. Both are good, but the onion burger is better. Enough so that the kid stole half of mind. Fries and onion rings are fine, nothing special but cooked right and great with a dash of salt and some ketchup. The lemon shake is a must-order. Handmade with just a kiss of lemon, not too tart or overwhelming.
This is an Anderson institution. There aren't many restaurants worth patronizing here, but this is one of them. On a sleepy Thursday night, this place was packed. Granted, there are less than 10 tables and about the same number of counter seats, but still. We were a party of 3 and we were behind a couple waiting for a table. Fortunately, a couple people at the counter offered to slide down a seat to make room for the 3 of us. There's no need for menus as you can see the menu board from any seat in the joint. We were given ice waters right away and a server took our order. This place is known for their onion burgers so that's what I got (a double with cheese and everything except mayo and onions - I figured I didn't need raw onion when there's already grilled onion in the burger). We also got a lemon shake which was a good call (the place is called The Lemon Drop so it had to be good, right?). It's basically a vanilla shake with a hint of lemon. The onion burger is like a juicy Lucy except instead of being filled with cheese, it's stuffed with grilled onions. Yum! Prices here are stuck in the 60s which is cool too.
